An internationally recognized pianist and competitor, Dr. Orth is the new Visiting Assistant Professor of Piano at ETSU. He holds a doctoral and master's degree from New England Conservatory and completed his undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University, and has previously served on the piano faculties of New England Conservatory and Wheaton College Conservatory of Music.
A lecture on navigating some of the difficulties faced by pianists with smaller hand-spans. Examples focus on challenges common in Romantic Era repertoire but with broad applicability. Fingering principles, redistribution, and other modifications will be discussed. Dr. Brickle completed his Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in piano performance, as well as the Specialized Studies Program in Pedagogy of Music Theory, at The Florida State University.
A masterclass suitable for early intermediate to advanced pianists, offering fresh perspectives on standard performance repertoire leading up to the April AMTA Auditions. Open and free for all to observe. Teachers entering students must apply by February 21; a $25 registration fee is due upon confirmation of acceptance (check postmark February 25). Six students will be selected for 15-minute coaching sessions each, with memorized repertoire required.
Dr. Chan is an active educator, clinician, and adjudicator who has presented masterclasses throughout the United States and Taiwan and has offered webinar series for students and teachers in China.
The Music Teachers National Association's annual national conference, hosted in St. Louis, Missouri. Members interested in attending should consult the MTNA website for registration and program information.
Our flagship student event. Students of all levels audition before adjudicators; those earning a Superior rating are invited to perform in the Honors Recital and advance to TMTA State Competitions. No musicianship tests are required this year. The Honors Recital is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 PM following the auditions; final timing depends on the number of entrants.
Registration fee is $25 per event. Registration deadline is a postmark no later than Sunday, March 15, 2027. AMTA members will receive an email with the registration application on or before February 20. The Tennessee Music Teachers Association's annual summer competitions and conference. AMTA students who earn a Superior rating at the April auditions are eligible to advance to TMTA State Competitions.
